Another major winter storm is hitting this weekend. Yes, again. A bomb cyclone is forming off the Carolinas and bringing heavy snow to Georgia, the Carolinas, and southern Virginia starting tomorrow. Many of these areas are still recovering from last weekend. Details below.

The Big Thing

Weekend Bomb Cyclone — Round 2

A rapidly strengthening coastal storm is developing off the Carolinas early Saturday and intensifying into a bomb cyclone. Blizzard conditions are possible on the southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina coasts by Saturday night.

Who's getting hit

Heaviest snow: Central and eastern North Carolina, southern Virginia. Greensboro, Raleigh, and Norfolk could see 6+ inches.
Moderate snow: Northern Georgia, Upstate South Carolina. A coating to a few inches, including parts of the Atlanta metro.
Blizzard conditions: Coastal southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina. Winds gusting up to 60 mph Saturday night.
Northeast: Still uncertain. Boston has the best chance. DC, Philly, NYC more likely to see a glancing blow.

Timing

Snow and strong winds begin Friday night into Saturday across the Southeast. Continues into Sunday morning, tapering off west to east during the day.

What to do

If you're running loads through the Southeast this weekend, plan to park early. Many of these areas still have ice and power outages from last weekend's storm. Roads will get bad fast.
