⚠️ Weather Alert: December 26-28

The big picture: If you're moving freight after Christmas, heads up—a winter storm is setting up from the Upper Midwest to the Northeast. Freezing rain, ice, and heavy snow will make Friday travel ugly. Meanwhile, California is still getting pounded with rain, and the South is sitting in record warmth.

🧊 Ice & Freezing Rain (Tonight → Friday) Michigan could see a quarter inch of ice from freezing rain—that's enough to make roads dangerous and knock out power.

Freezing rain impacts spread into western Pennsylvania and the northern Mid-Atlantic on Friday, including Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia. If you're heading through the I-95 corridor, expect trouble. PA conditions → | MD conditions →

❄️ Heavy Snow (Friday) New Jersey to Massachusetts: 4-8 inches expected Friday, locally more in some spots. Post-holiday travel will be a mess. Give yourself extra time or wait it out. NY conditions → | MA conditions →

🌊 California (Through Friday) Slight Risk of excessive rainfall in Southern California. Marginal flash flood risk in Northern California. Heavy rain, strong winds, and possible severe weather continue through Friday. High terrain is getting hammered with snow. Conditions improve Saturday. CA conditions →

🌡️ Record Warmth (Friday → Sunday) Texas to the Carolinas and up into the Tennessee Valley—highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Some records date back to the 1880s. It's December, but it won't feel like it.

🌫️ Gulf Coast Fog Dense fog possible each morning along the Gulf Coast through the weekend. Low visibility—take it slow.

🏔️ Mountain West (Saturday → Sunday) High elevation snow and gusty winds as the West Coast system pushes through. Valley rain on Saturday. Chain requirements likely on passes.

🥶 Arctic Air Incoming (Sunday) Another shot of cold air funneling down from Canada Sunday behind a cold front. The warmth won't last.

Bottom line: Friday is the rough day—ice and snow from the Midwest to the Northeast will make post-holiday travel treacherous. If you can avoid the I-95 corridor from DC to Boston on Friday, do it.
