The Big Thing

Montana Just Made Finding Parking Easier

Montana is taking truck parking seriously.

This week, the Montana Department of Transportation launched a real-time parking availability system for seven rest areas along I-90. Electronic signs will now tell drivers how many spaces are left at Columbus, Greycliff, Headwaters, and Homestake rest areas before they pull off. The information also shows up in Drivewyze and the state's 511 system. We’ll work on getting it added to the Truck Parking Club map.

It's a smart move, funded by a $1 million federal grant. Anything that helps drivers find a safe spot faster is a win.

Rest areas are critical infrastructure, and Montana's investment shows they understand the problem. But seven rest areas across thousands of highway miles means there will still be nights when you need more options.

That's where Truck Parking Club comes in. We've got 4,300+ locations nationwide—private lots, warehouses, truck stops, and industrial parks with availability you can check and book right from your phone.

Montana's doing good work. And when the rest areas fill up, we're here with more options.

Stay Off The Ramp

We get it. You're out of hours, the rest area's full, and the ramp is right there. But ramp parking puts you inches from 70 mph traffic — and it's not worth the risk.

Use code ramp25 for $25 off any daily booking at any of our 4,300+ locations. Find a real spot tonight.

Supreme Court Strikes Down Trump's IEEPA Tariffs On February 20th, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that President Trump's sweeping tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act are unconstitutional. Chief Justice Roberts wrote that the power to impose tariffs belongs to Congress, not the President. Within hours, Trump issued a new 10% tariff under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, which caps at 150 days unless Congress extends it. The ruling could mean refunds for $160+ billion in tariffs already collected, though that process is expected to be messy. USMCA-compliant goods and products already under Section 232 tariffs (steel, aluminum, trucks) are exempt from the new tariff.

Love's Investing $700M to Add 1,500 Truck Parking Spaces Love's Travel Stops announced it will invest $700 million in 2026 to build 20 new locations and remodel 35 existing ones. The expansion will add 1,500 truck parking spaces, bringing Love's total to more than 52,000 by year-end. The company is also opening two new truck care locations and four truck washes. Free parking at Love's locations will continue.

Pilot Opens Two New Travel Centers with 112 Truck Parking Spaces Pilot opened new travel centers in Chicopee, Massachusetts (25 truck parking spaces) and Ponce de Leon, Florida (87 truck parking spaces) this week. The Chicopee location is Pilot's second in Massachusetts. Both offer diesel lanes, private showers, food options, and mobile fueling. Pilot donated $20,000 to local school districts at each location.

Montana Launches Real-Time Truck Parking System on I-90 Montana DOT is rolling out a Truck Parking Availability Information System across seven I-90 rest areas. Drivers will see real-time parking availability on electronic road signs, through the 511 system, and on the Drivewyze app. The $1 million project was funded by an FMCSA grant. Locations include Columbus, Greycliff, Headwaters, and Homestake rest areas.

Tender Rejections Stay Elevated Despite Weak Demand Capacity remains unseasonably tight heading into late February, with tender rejection rates holding near 13%. The supply squeeze is real. The ITS Logistics Supply Chain Report notes that spot rates and rejections remain elevated even though tender volumes are running 6-7% below year-ago levels. Translation: this is a supply-driven tightening, not a demand recovery. Non-domiciled CDL restrictions and peak produce season will add more pressure in the coming months.
