🚛 Arizona Rolls Out AI Truck Parking System on I-10

Despite how wide open parts of Arizona is, it can be a tough spot to park depending on where you are going. So this caught my eye as it seems like a good implementation of technology that can reduce a drivers’ stress. It looks like the Arizona Department of Transportation has partnered with tech company Streetline to launch an AI truck parking availability system along I-10.

The system uses AI cameras mounted at rest areas to monitor trucks entering and exiting. That data gets compiled immediately and sent straight to digital highway signs, a mobile app, and Arizona’s traveler info sites, giving drivers live to the minute, truck parking availability.

Unlike older radar or built in ground sensor systems, Streetline’s tech relies on machine learning, which means it will keep improving as it goes. The more data the cameras get will allow it to adjust for night visibility, weather, and seasonal traffic swings.

Most importantly though, it’s not just the cameras that will come, the state’s Truck Parking Implementation Plan includes three new lots and expanded rest area capacity, creating 842 new parking spaces in the coming years. Knowing availability is certainly a great feature, but we know that adding more parking is the only way to begin solving it

Streetline’s parking system is already up and running in California, Florida, Kentucky, Nevada, and Washington. The goal is to cut down on fatigue, reduce illegal shoulder parking, and make highways safer for everyone.

🚨 Truck Driver Arrested After Fatal U-Turn Crash on Florida’s Turnpike

This has been some of the biggest news over the weekend, and was too big to leave out of this week’s Tale Lites. It happened on the Florida Turnpike, and left three people dead after a truck attempted an illegal U-turn in a turn around area marked “official use only.” Those little areas are normally where the bears like to hang out.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the truck, driven by Harjinger Singh, crossed directly into the path of a Chrysler Town & Country minivan near mile marker 170 in Fort Pierce on August 12. The minivan slammed into the trailer and became wedged underneath.

The driver of the van, a 30-year-old man from Florida City, later died at the hospital. Two passengers, a 37 year old woman from Pompano Beach and a 54 year old man from Miami, were pronounced dead at the scene. Singh was not injured.

Singh now faces three counts of vehicular homicide. Florida officials called his actions “shocking and criminal,” pointing to the devastating loss of life.

An investigation also revealed Singh has been living in the U.S. illegally since 2018 after crossing the border from Mexico. Despite that, he was able to obtain a CDL in California. This should be the main topic of conversation, especially as fraudulent CDL’s have been known to come out of CA

State officials confirmed Singh is being held on both homicide charges and immigration violations. Once his state case concludes, he will face deportation.

Health Tip of the Week - Cutting Calories Will Lower Cholesterol

One of the simplest ways to bring cholesterol levels down is by reducing overall caloric intake. When you consistently eat more calories than your body needs, the excess energy gets stored as fat. Over time, this can increase LDL (“bad” cholesterol) and triglycerides, while lowering HDL (“good” cholesterol).

By trimming just 300–500 calories a day you not only support weight loss but also reduce the amount of fat circulating in your bloodstream. This improves cholesterol balance and lowers your long term risk of heart disease. There are ways to reduce caloric intake without restricting yourself to fad diets. Switching to diet soda immediately cuts calories, sugar free options for the foods you already like, getting the protein bar instead of the candy bar. Love’s sells Pop-Tarts, but you can get one of the Legendary brand Pop tarts which are the same type of product with less calories, sugar, and more protein.

Reducing cholesterol doens’t need to be an overhaul of your diet, simply eating less calories will improve your blood markers.

👉 Small daily calorie cuts add up, and your heart will thank you.
