CH Robinson/RXO Merging? - Trucker Develops Game For Truckers!

🚨🚛 C.H. Robinson Is Buying RXO. What Does That Mean for Truckers?
C.H. Robinson announced Monday that it plans to acquire RXO in a deal worth roughly $5.8 billion. The deal still needs regulatory and shareholder approval, with the companies expecting it to close sometime in the first half of 2027.
If it goes through, the combined company is expected to generate more than $25 billion in annual revenue.
C.H. Robinson is already the largest domestic transportation management provider in the country, according to Armstrong & Associates.
Based on 2025 revenue:
C.H. Robinson: $11.7 billion
J.B. Hunt: $7.9 billion
RXO: $5.7 billion
The deal will be paid for with a combination of cash and stock, with RXO shareholders receiving about $30.25 per share.
So what does it mean for owner-operators?
The companies are pitching this as a win for carriers.
More loads + a bigger network = more opportunities to keep trucks moving.
The combined network could give carriers access to more freight and potentially make it easier to find backhauls, which could mean fewer empty miles.
They're also promising better booking and appointment tools, with C.H. Robinson leaning heavily on artificial intelligence to match carriers with freight. That might sound good to them, but what’s the other side of this coin.
Bigger broker doesn't automatically mean better rates
Having access to more loads doesn't mean there is suddenly more freight in the market, and it definitely doesn't guarantee those loads are just going to pay better.
A massive brokerage controlling an even larger share of the freight market raises questions about competition, pricing and negotiating power.
If more of the booking process is handled by AI, will it actually make life easier for drivers, or will getting a real person on the phone when something goes wrong become even harder?
And C.H. Robinson is expecting some serious consolidation
The company says it expects to save around $300 million annually by combining operations, consolidating offices and reducing third-party services and vendors.
That could also mean job cuts, although neither company announced specific staffing reductions.
C.H. Robinson's CFO also made it clear that the company expects more consolidation throughout the brokerage industry.
His argument?
Smaller brokers are going to have a harder time dealing with rising insurance costs and the changing legal environment surrounding broker liability.
The broker liability issue isn't going away
The timing of this merger is interesting because the freight brokerage industry is already dealing with increased scrutiny over broker liability.
C.H. Robinson says it expects smaller and mid-sized brokers to consolidate, with larger companies picking up market share.
That's good news if you're a giant brokerage, but for For smaller brokers not so much, and for truckers, fewer brokers would mean fewer companies competing for your business.

Relief at the pump, for now. The national diesel average dropped almost 15 cents to $6.38/gallon, its first decline in weeks. That cut won't reach fuel surcharges until next week's numbers.
🎮 This Truck Driver Built a Video Game for Truck Drivers
What do you get when you combine trucking, programming and a little bit of the Wild West?
Trucker Warz.
The game was created by Michael Dzedzej, a 37-year-old truck driver and programmer who has been behind the wheel for about two and a half years.
Dzedzej has been making small hobby games and games for friends for years, but trucking gave him the idea for something bigger.
“When I became a truck driver, I noticed there weren't any video games made for truck drivers.”
So he decided to make one.
Trucker Warz is a GPS-based strategy game that uses real-world truck stops as part of the game. As drivers travel, they can capture truck stops, build up their bases and compete with other players.
Players can deploy remote troops, launch missiles and use power ups against other bases. There's also a skill system that changes how different power-ups work, along with fleet management, a player-driven economy, base customization and weapon skins.
The game is still in alpha, meaning it's very much a work in progress. Dzedzej says he plans to continue developing it based on feedback, ideas and feature requests from the trucking community.
And honestly, that's probably the coolest part.
Instead of making a trucking game about truckers, he's trying to build one with truckers.
Trucker Warz is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

🍽️ Recipe of the Week: Air Fryer Chicken, Potato & Broccoli Bowl
What you need (Can get in Walmart):
1 pack boneless skinless chicken breast chunks (about 1 lb)
1 microwavable bag of baby potatoes, such as The Little Potato Company or Great Value steam-in-bag
1 bag fresh broccoli florets (produce section)
1 bottle all-in-one seasoning, such as Lawry's Seasoned Salt or McCormick Garlic & Herb
How to make it:
Microwave the potatoes. Cook the potato bag for 5 minutes so they're mostly done, then cut any big ones in half.
Toss and air fry. Put the potatoes, chicken and a couple of handfuls of broccoli in the basket and shake on the seasoning. Air fry at 400°F for 12–14 minutes, shaking halfway, until the chicken is no longer pink inside and the potatoes are crispy.
About 30g of protein per serving, plus complex carbs that keep you fuller for longer
Starting the potatoes in the microwave lets everything finish in the air fryer at the same time
Pre-cut chicken and broccoli mean no cutting board
It makes two meals, and the second one keeps 3–4 days in the fridge. Microwave it for about 2 minutes.
Pro tip: If the broccoli is browning faster than the chicken, add it for just the last 6 minutes. For a little extra flavor, add a splash of bottled lemon juice or hot sauce after cooking.

Long Time Trucker Writes Book on the State of American Trucking Industry

Is there a quiet war being waged against America’s truck drivers?
That’s the argument behind End of the Road: Inside the War on Truckers, a new book by longtime driver and writer Gord Magill. Magill claims the industry that once represented freedom and independence is being attacked on all fronts, from government regulations, in cab surveillance technology, corporate consolidation, and the push toward autonomous trucks.
God Magill has decades of experience including 4 seasons on ice roads in Canada, road trains in Australia, and over the road in the US. He argues that drivers today face tighter control, shrinking margins, and a future where human truckers may be pushed out altogether.
If you drive a truck, have driven, or have a family member who drives then this book is a must read.
