Evan Hit the Road: Takeaways

Last week Evan was on the road with Chris Thomas.

The trip took them from Nevada → Utah → Wyoming → Iowa → Ohio → West Virginia → North Carolina.

Along the way, they parked at our member locations in Sparks, Nevada; Logan, Utah and Toledo, Ohio.

On top of being a great opportunity to spend some time with Chris (who is awesome), the trip provided Evan with an opportunity to witness the daily reality many drivers face.

What’s his biggest takeaway?

We need WAY more parking.

There’s no way around it. There just isn’t enough parking. Arriving at a truck stop late in the afternoon/evening likely means there isn’t a spot, which means you’ll either need to get lucky and find a spot somewhere else or be parking in less than ideal situations.

There’s a difference between reading about the issue and actually living it. This experience only reinforces our mission. We’re on the right track adding new spaces every single week, but we have a long way to go. So let’s keep going.

Trucking News

  • In Wisconsin, the Teamsters were voted out by Keurig Dr Pepper workers across three facilities, citing dissatisfaction with poor contracts despite 20 years of union representation. The Teamsters recently celebrated victories, including resolving a strike at U.S. Foods and winning representation at a Ryder unit. However, a potential strike at Anheuser-Busch looms if a new contract isn't agreed upon by March 1, with conflicting reports on the negotiation status. (Freightwaves)

  • Pro-Trump truck drivers, led by "Chicago Ray," are refusing shipments to New York City to express discontent with the recent $350 million civil fraud judgment against former President Trump. The ruling, barring Trump from operating in NYC for three years, has sparked a social media-driven boycott, with truckers denouncing it as "election interference." The move raises concerns about the politicization of legal actions against political figures. (Fox News)
