Trucking In the News

  • 🚚 Seminole County, Florida, plans to build a truck parking facility near the I-4 corridor, adding 131 new spaces near the US 17-92 interchange. This $50 million project on a 17.3-acre site addresses the shortage of truck parking in the area, with construction potentially starting in 2026. (WFTV)

  • 🚛 In Palm Beach County, Florida, officials are debating whether to allow truckers to park their commercial vehicles on their own property. This issue arose after the county began enforcing a long-ignored ordinance against such parking, leading to tickets and concerns among truckers. A public hearing is scheduled for January 25th to address this matter, following a preliminary vote favoring the truckers' right to park at home. Some residents oppose due to noise and road concerns, while a proposed solution includes a $2,500 one-time fee per truck to fund road maintenance. Currently, 61 truckers in the area risk citations under the current rules. (CDLLIFE)

  • The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is investing $292 million in federal funding to expand and improve truck parking facilities. This initiative is part of a larger $4.9 billion infrastructure project recently announced. (Transport Topics)

    • The funding targets four major projects:

      1. Florida: $180 million for over 900 truck parking spaces along I-4 in central Florida.

      2. Missouri: $92 million to enhance parking facilities and information systems along I-70.

      3. West Coast I-5 Corridor: $12 million for a regional truck parking information management system, connecting drivers with available parking at 54 facilities.

      4. Wisconsin: $8 million to reconstruct and expand a rest area on I-90, increasing parking spots from 16 to 70.

  • We recently encountered the Wiener Mobile in Georgia. Hunter came up with a punny joke, so we ran with it.
