DOT Pulls $73.5M From New York Over Non-Domiciled CDLs FMCSA is withholding $73.5M in federal highway funds from New York after the state refused to revoke non-domiciled CDLs flagged in a December audit. 53% of sampled licenses were issued in violation of federal law, and New York has 32,606 non-domiciled CLPs or CDLs on the books. California already lost $158M for the same reason. New York's funding loss could double in fiscal 2028. DOT | FreightWaves

Hormuz Reopening Falls Apart, Diesel Holds Above $5.80 Crude dropped 10% on April 17 when Iran said Hormuz was "completely open." Less than 24 hours later Iran reversed course and prices snapped back. EIA still projects diesel peaking above $5.80/gallon this month and averaging $4.80 for the year. US envoys are headed to Islamabad for another round of talks. Euronews | EIA

J.B. Hunt Signals the Freight Recovery Has Legs J.B. Hunt beat Q1 estimates with $3.06B in revenue and $1.49 EPS, up 27% year over year. CEO Shelley Simpson described a "meaningfully different" freight environment. Intermodal volume hit a Q1 record. Werner reports April 28 and will be the next tell on whether this is sector-wide. Roadcheck Hits May 12-14 CVSA's International Roadcheck runs May 12-14 with inspectors averaging 15 inspections per minute for 72 hours. Driver focus is ELD tampering. Vehicle focus is cargo securement. Tender rejections are already sitting at 13-14% and dry van costs are up 17% year over year. Expect capacity to tighten and spot rates to spike. The Walcott Truckers Jamboree -- July 9-11

The 48th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree returns to the Iowa 80 Truckstop off I-80, Exit 284 in Walcott, Iowa. Last year's event drew over 45,000 people.

This year features the Super Truck Beauty Contest, antique truck display, Trucker Olympics, Iowa pork chop cookout, fireworks at 9 PM, and live music all three days. Admission and parking are free.
